When Disability Becomes a Source of Moments
November 18th 2025When Disability Becomes a Source of Moments
hello

In a world where determination lights the way, “RideToRise” — an initiative launched by the Nabda Foundation — rises as a heartbeat of hope for people with disabilities and PMR communities across Morocco.

Two courageous women are starting an exceptional bicycle journey across Morocco, riding from one city to another to share a strong message: strength, inclusion, and solidarity have no limits. Supported by a dedicated team, their mission is to connect associations, families, and individuals who care in every region, creating a living network of hearts beating for the same cause.

RideToRise is more than a physical challenge — it is a human movement: a call to believe, to support, and to reimagine what is possible for people living with disabilities. With every kilometer, the team hopes to spark conversations, build bridges, and spread a wave of optimism that reaches every corner of Morocco.

I didn’t just hear about them — I had the chance to meet them in El Jadida, and that moment changed everything. What struck me first was how genuinely friendly they were. Their eyes were filled with hope, and their energy… it was different. It wasn’t just motivation; it was the kind of energy that lifts people, moves hearts, and quietly pushes you to believe in better.

I joined them on my bike that day 🚴‍♂️, and together we visited Association Ange, an organization that supports autistic children through activities built on inclusion and understanding. Walking into that space with them felt special — gentle yet full of life.

I first learned about this association through the Nabda team and their incredible commitment. There’s something about this team that I truly admire — a quiet strength that inspires you without them even trying. I envy them in the best way possible, because taking on an adventure like this requires courage, heart, and a kind of resilience that few people possess. And honestly, I can only imagine what they went through along the way — the challenges, the emotions, and the moments that shaped this journey.

Thanks to my disability, I lived many of these beautiful moments. Yes, it may sound strange, but it’s the truth: my disability opened doors I never imagined and brought me to people, stories, and experiences I would have never encountered otherwise. And RideToRise reminded me once again that disability isn’t a weakness — it’s a different path that can lead to powerful human connections and unforgettable experiences.

That day taught me something important: inclusion isn’t just a concept we talk about — it’s something you live, something you feel, something you share with others.

And when the team will reach Dakhla, many thought the journey had come to an end. But the truth is, it didn’t end there — it began there. Dakhla was just a cardiac baseline, the first “heartbeat check” before a bigger rhythm starts. It’s written in the connections we build — in the people we meet, the hearts we touch, and those quiet moments that leave a mark on us forever.

This is what RideToRise truly represents: not just a journey, but a growing pulse of hope carried from one heart to another.
